The number of replies you get from other members will depend greatly on the impact of your profile. Here are a few simple guidelines to consider:
Post a picture of yourself
Images should be no bigger than 250k and in .jpg format. If you are not sure how to change a file format or size send your picture to admin@hello-me.com with your screen name and the email address you used to register and it will be uploaded for you.
All photographs are vetted before they are published for display. We will not display any photographs we deem to be detrimental to the ethos of the site, any nudity or any pictures containing children. Clipart and screen savers are also not acceptable. The vetting process is carried out by hand and it may take up to 24 hours for a picture posted electronically to appear on the site. We strongly advise you to use a recent, clear picture of yourself. After all, if you are aiming to meet people, you will need them to recognize you.
Write a good tagline
When members search listings on the site, your tagline and picture is all they see. Try to be inventive so that your listing stands out. Try and be descriptive yet succinct.
Complete your basic profile
Take time to complete the free text section of your profile. Try to explain a bit about who you are and what you are looking for. If your spelling and grammar is not perfect, then why not try spell checking what you have written before you submit it. Many people will be put off by poor spelling or by a lot of use of txt spk in your profile – you could miss Mr or Miss right for you.
It's also worth completing the drop down sections of your profile. If someone is looking for a blonde haired woman over 5'5 and you are perfect for them, they will only find you if you have filled in the height and hair colour questions. We’ve tried to keep the amount of information to a minimum so why not spend a few minutes and complete it.
Use the interests section
Not all of us are able to write our interests succinctly. We've listed some of the more common things that you might be interested in doing and hope you will fill in the information. At the moment it will help other members to get a quick overview of whether you are likely to be compatible. In the future we will be adding an advanced search option so that you can use this information to find people more like you.
